Providence - Part 2

Its' been good, so far but I am always one to jump in and say all is well when in reality it's not. Yet again I say, it's been good.

Our container arrived Saturday, surprising me that it took so little time. I had expected it to come in 3 or 4 weeks - it took them 13 days. My anxiety about the customs clearance was totally useless; apparently, they scanned the entire 40-foot container and only IF they had pertinent reason to check our goods, they wouldn't inspect them.

So this morning, Hubs met the logistic company and our container at the corner road, for there was no way a 40-foot container would be able to maneuver our primitive road! I had imagined the truck tipping over our windy road, our precious goods sprawled all over the kampung road, causing havoc! With the aid of our Lorry, they have made 2 trips, unloading the contents of our previous home - all 261 pieces, to every nook and corner my parent's house has to offer. Looks like we're running out of carton space!! But the day is beautiful, no rain in sight - unloading off the container and unloading into our house goes unencumbered!

So for now, I am just happy that our container load of goods have arrived safely, timely and without the hassle of customs inspection. The immediate question for me now is, what to unpack first?

Providecne - Part 1

We decided to take on the Sea Change challenge. Leaving all that is familiar to me and my family the last 19 years. Leaving the comfort and convenience of the life I am so accustomed to. Our deliberations about this move was long and needless to say, very deliberate. Still today I sit here and ask myself, are we crazy to do this? We don't have money to live on and we do this. Yes, indeed we are insane.

But the crazy, eclectic individuals are the ones truly living lives today. Those who swim upstream are the ones people single out as mad but the ones that truly capture our imagination and making difference in the world. At least that's how I see it. Eagles fly high and solitary, yet an incomparable symbol of independence, courage and strength. So I tell myself.

Getting a rental here has proven itself to be a bit of a challenge. We are not in dire need of a place but to secure one early would be beneficial. The cheaper places are either way to run-down, dilapidated and uncared for; the newer places just arrogantly asking too much.

Chapter ending...

The school term and year is ending in 2 weeks. M's birthday and J's big playdate is next on the cards. And then there's Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day, marking Hub's last day at work. Removalist are coming to empty the house. Before I know it, I will be stepping on home-soil again. Its all happening too fast for me. I am still trying to hold on, yet excited about the move too. I tell myself its only temporary, 5-6 years tops and then I'll be back to Perth weather!
