Ahh...Sandra and Keanu. Don't you just love this tandem?
Jane Austen's book "Persuasion" is mentioned in The Lake House. Kate forgets this book in a train station and Alex retrieves it for her (in a parallel dimension)! He highlights this passage from the book for her;
"There could have been no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison...."
While I don't believe the movie is based on the book Persuasion (Unlike "Clueless" was based on Emma) its similarities lie with the elements of 2 people who are apart all this while, yet very much in love and finally getting together in the end.
I was gutted when I realised that it was Alex who crossed that street! Damn it! Kate is hanging on the mail box and I am crying with her! The melodramatic music does not help!
But oh, Alex reads the letter and he lives!!
They finally meet.
"You waited" says Kate and Alex not needing to say anything.....
