I absolutely enjoyed this show! I have misgivings though in that I think there are missing scenes - story line seems disjointed. Still get the gist of it all. Darcy is such an arrogant upstart, yet you see his vulnerability. Its hillarious how the storyline is so skewed from the original! BUT she gets her Mr.Darcy! *sigh* He's soo amazing. Yes my favourite scene IS the wet-shirt scene because its so darn funny! Enjoy as I did!

Mum-In-Chief, Michelle Robinson-Obama
I've read somewhere that the puppy is coming to the White House in April. Awwww...."It is always my focus to make sure that I'm doing my job as a mom. Barack and I both, no matter what's going on, we're always measuring our progress by how our kids are doing. If they're happy and they're feeling confident and loved, and they're doing well in shcool and they have friends, then I feel whatever else is happening it doesn't really matter. As a mom I'm always wondering, 'Am I doing everything I can do?' So I think that's always a challenge"
The commitment of Barack and Michelle is astounding! "Barack and I haven't missed a parent-teacher conference throughout this whole process [presidential campaign]"
Despite their newfound status, Michelle is determined that Malia (10) and Sasha (7) live "normal" lives. During her first visit to the White House, she warned staff not to do chores, explaining that the girls will have to tidy their rooms and make their beds. And its seems the girls have their feet firmly planted on the ground.
"How many kids really care about what their parents do for a living?" says Michelle. "When they come home it's 'Lemme show you want I drew'. My kids are still wonderfully self centred. And as a result, what Dad does is neat, and they think Dad'll be a great president."
Michelle, you go girl!
You Pierce My Soul....
I came across this picture and fell in love with it! It is the letter Captain Wentworth wrote to Anne Elliot in Persuasion (easily another one of my favourite, after P&P of course).
Although the movie Persuasion95 is more faithful to the novel and Ciaran Hinds reads the FULL letter, Rupert Penry Jones in Persuasion 08 (pictured) is more dashing as Captain Wentworth! Although I've seen P95/P08 more than I wish to divulge, the best bit is when Anne finds the letter! Upon receiving/finding the letter, Anne hurriedly looks for Captain Wentworth thinking he's gone far, only to find him still close by! *sigh* In the P08, Anne runs through Bath, in search of him. Initially I was appalled! I thought, "NO! The real Anne wouldn't do this!". But seriously for Rupert "Captain Wentworth" Penry-Jones, I WOULDN'T do any different!I remember reading the letter to Mr. Darcy once; with the blank look on his face, I knew instantly it's escaped him! Yup, that's why he's Mr.Darcy!
Friday
Another week's gone by at home-soil. To begin with Mom left earlier in the week to harvest her rice. With much trepidation Dad will be joining her soon; again they had another tiff. Sometimes I wonder at these folks. I often ask Mr. Darcy if we'll up like that. He assures me most confidently, "No, we don't have to"...
We spent the day sorting out business matters and now just knackered from all that travelling! I think the Kids had fun; they got a chance to meet up with the cousins again, albeit briefly. Got home very late afternoon, just in time for the boys to help Dad fix the poolside fence. In no time, the Kids jumped into the pool with M singing cheerily whilst squirting water at the fence-mending boys. I can hear Mr.Darcy admonishing her from time to time as their tools were getting quite wet! I, prepared dinner of our staple steamed-fish plus other dishes, magically concocted from dried up vegies in the fridge! The "Tuhau" and "Bambangan" Mr. Darcy bought from the road-side stall earlier, made dinner extra scrumptious; not that my dishes weren't already scrumptious!
Now in the quietness of the evening, I reflect on an MSN chat I just had with a friend. I had inquired how business was in her neck of the woods, to which she tells me is bleak and not looking at improving anytime soon. I felt for her and her staff, who were once my colleague. These girls were taking a 10% wage cut and an imminent layoff of ONE staff if things were not looking up in the next 3 months - they are to choose among themselves WHO is to go! The horrors of an economic downturn. You read about it, you see it happen on the news, its a hot topic at conversations, many lose sleep over it and it affects lives, many lives.
I cannot know for myself how that feels. I cannot say I understand because I am not, or rather, no longer in the same boat. As far as they are concerned, I have taken off on a cruiseliner! true. I feel spared from the turmoils and heartaches of the economic downturn;I am none the wiser for which, I am trully thankful...

Hairy Day
Mr.Darcy returned from the hills today. He was supposed to have come home last night but it was getting a bit too late. Instead he came home this morning. Don't see much of him lately and I guess that's the trade-off of being on home soil. I see he's thriving on the busy-ness of it all, I am happy for him.
On a totally unrelated matter, I am not really liking my hair! Got to the hairdressers this morning to do something about this mane of mine! Turns out, its no different from my "old" hair style - not that I ever had a hairstyle! I think I am the only one hairstyle-less; its just this boof of a hair, all fizzy, curly and everywhere - unless its scuffed up in a bun!! Like the look of this blog, I can't decide on what I really want with this hair! Its just a matter of time until I revert to my faithful curling iron; takes a little bit of time and some burnt ears in the process but I tend to be happier with the results!!
Back to Mr. Darcy, he didn't notice what I had done with hair; only noticed that its a little shorter. Later commenting that he liked it straighter but he liked that I am willing to "try" other looks. Bless his heart!

My baby
Turned 8 last week.
My multitalented boy-genius and boy-wonder, my little hero, my tries-to-be-honest food-critic, my tries-not-to-complain-too-much little helper, my angelic-voice guy-sebastian-esque singer, my little rascal, my little challenger-of-my-authority, my little cheeky imp, my heart, soul, pride and joy...
He requested a pool-party with some friends, which was easily granted. His other request was TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES. Looked delish and tasted even better! I threw in a good dose of Oreo's Cheesecake too - although I was rather disappointed with the "sub-standard" ingredients KK has to offer (Thanks to my new friend, Terri, I will visit a shop she recommended). Still it wasn't too bad altogether! Spent hours the other day digging through boxes to get my utensils out - it was worth it! He thoroughly enjoyed his little pool party - its so easy to please him sometimes, yet other times he drives me mad! Still I wouldn't change a thing about my little hero son!
His unabashed confidence still astounds me. We visited a church on Sunday and during one of the segments, the children pastor needed volunteers in teaching the lesson on TEAMWORK. There was a mathematical question/quiz that went along with the lesson. Who could answer the fastest got a chance to be 1 of 4 volunteers. He shocked us all by being the first! So he made his stage appearance. There were other mathematical questions that followed and he answered them all. Needless to say, we were proud of him and so bemused when the pastor asked "What school you go to? The other parents would like to send their kids there!!". Though gifted by nature and further nurtured by the Montessori system, my son is currently homeschooled and this Mom couldn't be prouder; basking in the glory of a now known, the Little Math Genius!

Its a wrap...
So the week's ended. Actually J would correct me right about there, saying its the beginning of the week. Either way, 1 week's gone by. Another week of us being on home soil. Yet another attempt at keeping to the homeschool schedule - let's see...they did fishing, planted some vegies, played with dogs, chatted with the 2 Myna birds and had friends over for some serious pool time. I also managed to squeeze in some baking amongst all that (Ingredients-wise, I am still not too impressed with what I've come across. I got some tips, though, where to shop for my baking needs!) Mom and Dad will be leaving for the Ladang again soon and Hubs will be doing a one day-er tomorrow to check out ours. I will be at home with the kids again, homeschooling and unpacking. I must seriously think about sorting out the scrapbooking stuff..soon.
I quite enjoyed the sermon today. Very refreshing and thought provoking! And was nice catching up with people from years gone by too. Chatted with other moms who homeschooled their kids too, exchanged some personal views on the matter. VERY glad to know I am not the only mom who turns dragon-headmistress to those udner her charge!!
The kids enjoyed sunday school too, which was paramount. J & M made fast friends and I was rather pleased with that. Need to talk it over to the Hubs about this though, whether we keep looking or stay put for a while.
Another week to look forward too..

Today
(I realise I am terrible with blog titles...)
This morning, we got to a late start - so ran a little behind schedule. J's finised an English pace earlier in the week and really should be sitting for his test this morning. BUT got caught up at breakfast chit-chatting with Mom, ironically rare these days. In the end, I allowed J to finish this electronic project he's been building since yesterday. It's still learning for him. Still can't figure out what went wrong with that Morse-Code decoder we built together yesterday. Need to look at the wirings again or worse yet, rebuild it.
M is negotiating with me to NOT drawing 5 flowers but 4 because it will hurt her fingers. Somedays she's really good, others just whiny and uncooperative. But today I guess it's my fault. With homeschooling, you have to be dedicated to the schedule before they are, otherwise its anarchi!!
Yesterday they went fishing with Mama. They had so much fun, although J didn't do much of his PACE. I thought to myself, thank goodness J is advanced otherwise I would worry that his not doing much PACE this week. For M its not too much of a worry. In real Australian school year, she'd only be in Kindy where they play all day! At least she knows ABCs and understands how to read. Her understanding of numeracy also good for one her age - she can do simple sums.
I am still thinking about what Mom and I chatted about this morning. I will have to blog about it later on - I have to learn putting my ideas into words...again. Long ago it was easy to do so, but lately its proven to be a bit of a challenge for me. I persist...

Westlife
(damn embeddings)
I remember first hearing about this boyband way back in mid-1999. "Fool Again" was repeatedly aired, that it got ingrained in my subconscience! With a catchy rhythm, lyrical and melodiously beautiful, followed by gorgeous harmony - and ahh, the transposition (am a total sucker for transpositions!), "Fool Again" quickly became one of my favourite songs.
Another of my then favourite was "My Love".
All I knew of them then, was that they called themselves Westlife. To me they were "just" another pretty-boyband, yet another one hailing from Ireland (I was already head-over-heels with the ever so fantastic Ronan!). Had no idea, nor the interest then, who the members were; I simply enjoyed their nice little songs. They do/did covers of some very popular songs that I knew well; and I give them enough credit for their versions were decent. Their sound and style was distinct enough and I could always tell if Westlife sang a cover. Just recently, they were promoting their tour to Australia, and STILL didn't pay attention. When Delta Goodrem hooked up with the errant Bryan Mcfadden, I thought "Bry..who?" Yes, I was the fool!
The other day, waiting for my MIL in the car, I heard "I have a Dream" on the radio, sounding very Westlife-ish. Lo and behold, my instincts and ears didn't fail me! Found out later they covered this song maaaaaany years ago!
Anyway, upon searching Youtube for "Uptown girl" by Billy Joel (something totally unrelated to Westlife), I was so pleasantly surprised to find that Westlife had also done a cover of that song! They did it waaay back in 2002 - I must've been under a rock!
Yes back to being a fool, I NOW decided to find out a little more about these Irish lads - apart from their delightful (read sexy!) accents (I doubt I am I the only one here!). So now we know that Bryan has left, leaving Mark Feehily (co lead vocal) who is so totally good looking; you can tell from the videos clips, HE is the cameraman's favourite!!!! And there's Cian Egan; the blond-blue eye sweety. There's Nicky Bryne whose a daddy to twin boys. Finally, the lead vocal, Shane Phelan; married his teenage sweetheart (aawww) and daddy to a little girl. I must say, they are pretty hunky looking bunch of boys!
Listening to this song again (courtesy of youtube, over and over again!) I am brought back to 1999, those long 3 hours, frequent travels to and fro, the Ladang and the city on errands, listening to the radio to this song being aired..over and over again! Another song that I seem to time- travel to is "When you say nothing at all" by Ronan Keating. *smile* and *siiiiigh*
A perfect segue; Tom Lefroy was an Irish too. Oh Jane...
Anyway another nice one..."Swear It Again" , newer song .."Something Right"..yet another one "I lay my love on you"

Uptown girl
Shes been living in her uptown world
I bet she never had a back street guy
I bet her mama never told her why
Im gonna try for an uptown girl
Shes been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now shes looking for a downtown man
Thats what I am
And when she knows what
She wants from her time
And when she wakes up
And makes up her mind
Shell see Im not so tough
Just because
Im in love with an uptown girl
You know Ive seen her in her uptown world
Shes getting tired of her high class toys
And all her presents from her uptown boys
Shes got a choice
Uptown girl
You know I cant afford to buy her pearls
But maybe someday when my ship comes in
Shell understand what kind of guy Ive been
And then Ill win
And when shes walking
Shes looking so fine
And when shes talking
Shell say that shes mine
Shell say Im not so tough
Just because
Im in love
With and uptown girl
Shes been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can

"I Need You" Leanne Rimmes
I don't need a lot of things,
I can get by with nothing
Of all the blessings life can bring,
I've always needed something
But I've got all I want
When it comes to loving you
You're my only reason,
You're my only truth
[chorus]
I need you like water
Like breath, like rain
I need you like mercy
From Heaven's gate
There's a freedom in your arms
That carries me through
I need you
You're the hope that moves me
To courage again
You're the love that rescues me
When the cold winds rage
And it's so amazing
'Cause that's just how you are
And I can't turn back now
'Cause you've brought me too far
"How do I live" Leanna Rimmes
How do i,
Get through the night without you?
If i had to live without you,
What kind of life would that be?
Oh, i
I need you in my arms, need you to hold,
You're my world, my heart, my soul,
If you ever leave,
Baby you would take away everything good in my life,
And tell me now
How do i live without you?
I want to know,
How do i breathe without you?
If you ever go,
How do i ever, ever survive?
How do i, how do i, oh how do i live?
Without you,
There'd be no sun in my sky,
There would be no love in my life,
There'd be no world left for me.
And i,
Baby i don't know what i would do,
I'd be lost if i lost you,
If you ever leave,
Baby you would take away everything real in my life,
And tell me now,
How do i live without you?
I want to know,
How do i breathe without you?
If you ever go,
How do i ever, ever survive?
How do i, how do i, oh how do i live?
Please tell me baby,
How do i go on?
If you ever leave,
Baby you would take away everything,
I need you with me,
Baby don't you know that you're everything,
Real in my life?
And tell me now,
How do i live without you,
I want to know,
How do i breathe without you?
If you ever go,
How do i ever, ever survive?
How do i, how do i, oh how do i live?
How do i live without you?
How do i live without you baby?

"Can't Fight the Moonlight" Leanne Rimmes
Under a lovers' sky
Gonna be with you
And noone's gonna be around
If you think that you won't fall
Well just wait until
Til the sun goes down
Underneath the starlight - starlight
There's a magical feeling - so right
It'll steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No, you can't fight it
It's gonna get to your heart
There's no escape from love
Once a gentle breeze
Weaves it's spell upon your heart
No matter what you think
It won't be too long
Til your in my arms
Underneath the starlight - starlight
We'll be lost in the rhythm - so right
Feel it steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No you can't fight it
No matter what you do
The night is gonna get to you
Don't try then
You're never gonna win
Underneath the starlight - starlight
There's a magical feeling - so right
It will steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No, you can't fight it
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
Don't you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No, you can't fight it
It's gonna get to your heart
"Please Remember" Leanne Rimmes
Time, sometimes the time just slips away
And your left with yesterday
Left with the memories
I, I'll always think of you and smile
And be happy for the time
I had you with me
Though we go our separate ways
I won't forget so don't forget
the memories we've made
Please remember, please remember
I was there for you
and you were there for me
Please remember, our time together
The time was yours and mine
And we were wild and free
Please remember, please remember me
Goodbye, there's just no sadder word to say
And it's sad to walk away
with just the memories
Who's to know what might have been
We'll leave behind a life and time
We'll never know again
Please remember, please remember
I was there for you
and you were there for me
And remember, Please remember me
Please remember, please remember
I was there for you
And you were there for me
Please remember, our time together
The time was yours and mine
And we were wild and free
Then remember, please remember me
And how we laughed and how we smiled
And how this world was yours and mine
and how no dream was out of reach
I stood by you, you stood by me
We took each day and made it shine
We wrote our names across the sky
We ran so fast, we ran so free
I had you and you had me
Please remember, please remember
Something New
I can't seem to get the right look or feel to this blog. I like the understated look but it takes on dreary and boring after a while. Even Jane looks bored! But I like this picture of Jane, so far. I thought enough with Anne Hathaway and I hunted some more pictures of Jane. That I am happy, for now.
So far...
I am struggling from stomach cramps again. Can't think of what it is that I recently ate to bring about this agony. Swallowed 2 panadols to dull the pain - I felt better. The kids are already sound asleep in lala-land and I am just about to get there too, but remembered my Pemberley.
Hubs is away for a week this week; he summoned his mom to accompany the kids and I at home. I am glad MIL is here - she's great company! Although I feel sorry for her cause she has nothing to do here but watch the kids for me. We catch the 12pm soap-opera together and later in the afternoon, drink our 3-in-1 nescafe as we watch the kids swim in the pool. Chat about everything and anything!
Mom and Dad are away too. I wonder how they are doing - since the stuff up with accomodation, courtesy of dumb-ol'-me, I have been worried. I just know they'll be OK though.

Providence - Part 2
Its' been good, so far but I am always one to jump in and say all is well when in reality it's not. Yet again I say, it's been good.
Our container arrived Saturday, surprising me that it took so little time. I had expected it to come in 3 or 4 weeks - it took them 13 days. My anxiety about the customs clearance was totally useless; apparently, they scanned the entire 40-foot container and only IF they had pertinent reason to check our goods, they wouldn't inspect them.
So this morning, Hubs met the logistic company and our container at the corner road, for there was no way a 40-foot container would be able to maneuver our primitive road! I had imagined the truck tipping over our windy road, our precious goods sprawled all over the kampung road, causing havoc! With the aid of our Lorry, they have made 2 trips, unloading the contents of our previous home - all 261 pieces, to every nook and corner my parent's house has to offer. Looks like we're running out of carton space!! But the day is beautiful, no rain in sight - unloading off the container and unloading into our house goes unencumbered!
So for now, I am just happy that our container load of goods have arrived safely, timely and without the hassle of customs inspection. The immediate question for me now is, what to unpack first?

Providecne - Part 1
We decided to take on the Sea Change challenge. Leaving all that is familiar to me and my family the last 19 years. Leaving the comfort and convenience of the life I am so accustomed to. Our deliberations about this move was long and needless to say, very deliberate. Still today I sit here and ask myself, are we crazy to do this? We don't have money to live on and we do this. Yes, indeed we are insane.
But the crazy, eclectic individuals are the ones truly living lives today. Those who swim upstream are the ones people single out as mad but the ones that truly capture our imagination and making difference in the world. At least that's how I see it. Eagles fly high and solitary, yet an incomparable symbol of independence, courage and strength. So I tell myself.
Getting a rental here has proven itself to be a bit of a challenge. We are not in dire need of a place but to secure one early would be beneficial. The cheaper places are either way to run-down, dilapidated and uncared for; the newer places just arrogantly asking too much.
