Introduction to Prints® Did you ever wonder why people behave so differently? Did you ever observe two people seeing the same thing or hearing the same conversation and having completely different interpretations? Did you ever wonder why certain people are passive while others are assertive? Why some are impulsive and others prefer to plan? Why some are more creative and others are more analytical? Why some are detailed and others only see the big picture? The answers to these questions and many more are very much connected to one’s personality. One way to describe personality is using a process called “Printing®”. Printing is based on a powerful system that was developed by scholars centuries ago and has been refined over hundreds of years. Printing takes people’s personality traits, along with the why’s behind these traits, and groups them into 9 categories - each with its own way of thinking, feeling and behaving; its own unique view of the world; and its own set of strengths and potential weaknesses. Although people may see parts of themselves in some, or even all of the groupings, there are always two that fit them better than the rest - called a Major (dominant) and a Minor (secondary). The combination of a person’s Major and Minor makes up their personality type, or Print®, of which there are 72 in total. IMPORTANT PRINT FACTS: Every Print has it unique strengths and weaknesses. Your Print explains your view of the world - how you look at things and how you respond to people and situations. Each Print has an Unconscious MotivatorTM that drives the beliefs, thoughts, emotions and actions of that Print. Some behaviors are common among two or more Prints, but the motivation behind the behaviors are different. Unconscious MotivatorsTM are the key to truly understanding Print behavior. No Print is better than any other Print. Prints are not good or bad, just different. Each Print has strengths (called “Best Self”) and potential weaknesses (called “Shadow”) that are unique to that Print. A person’s natural state is Best Self. But sometimes Shadow replaces Best Self as a person’s automatic default, particularly under stress. The Paul Hertz Group We use the numbers 1 through 9 to designate the different Prints - the first number of your Print represents your Major and the second number is your Minor. High numbers are not better or worse than low numbers. Low numbers are not better or worse than high numbers. We simply use numbers as a way to distinguish the groupings. The Print SurveyTM that you recently completed was to determine your Print. Attached is your result and a description of the characteristics of your Print, a blend of your Major and Minor. When you read the description, it is important to note that there may be characteristics or traits described that you don’t think you have or exhibit. Do not be alarmed. This is expected. The narrative represents the entire universe of traits for a given Print. You probably exhibit a number of the behaviors, but not all of them. However, the narrative should be a good overall representation of your personality. Sometimes, people find it difficult to see themselves as others perceive them. It may help to let a trusted, dear friend, close colleague, spouse, family member or significant other read your description and offer their perceptions. Please note that your narrative includes a list of traits called “Potential Shadow Traits”. Shadow traits are traits that can come out during times of stress. These are potential areas for you to work on. As we said, not all of the characteristics listed will apply to you, but those that do offer opportunities for personal growth. Here are some suggestions for how to put the information to good use: Review the list of potential Shadow traits and try to identify two or three that you feel you exhibit more often than you would like.Select no more than three behaviors to work on. If possible, ask a few people you trust to verify them for you and even see if they’ll point out some examples, if you or they feel comfortable doing this. Others’ perceptions can sometimes be more reliable than your own. Keep these behaviors in your conscious awareness. Shadow behaviors can be automatic. We can do them without thinking. They often just happen. Change that process by staying “awake” and “alert” about your behaviors. When you wake up in the morning, be aware of them. When you start work, be aware of them, etc. What is key is how you handle your “moment of truth” - when something stressful happens and your automatic Shadow behaviors want to take over. Try to stay aware and step back for a few moments in these situations. Even take a few deep breaths before responding. Periodically ask the same people in our first suggestion to give you progress reports. Also, if they observe you starting to do one of your Shadow behaviors, ask them to gently inform you and alert you to slippage. Your “buddy” can help you quite a bit. Additionally, ask them to let you know when you are doing Best Self behaviors, especially if you are making improvements in this area. At their best, 4/2’s are self-expressive, warm and creative individuals who make meaningful contributions and establish meaningful connections with people. Naturally introspective and self-aware, they tune into their feelings to guide them to action. They enjoy feeling unique and special, and when given the freedom to demonstrate this part of their personality, they can bring an originality of thought and expression that is unsurpassed. 4/2’s are also known to be highly intuitive, sympathetic and sensitive. They readily reveal their inner feelings and inspire others to do the same. However, there can be a fine line between self-awareness and self-indulgence and if a 4/2 becomes too attached to their feelings, they can become dramatic, emotionally intense, moody or temperamental. They also run the risk of losing their ability to respond objectivity and logically to certain situations. In these instances, the 4/2’s heart can dominate their mind. Individuality and originality are signature traits of the 4/2. They can be counted on to come up with imaginative and fresh thoughts, insights and ideas seemingly out of thin air - but for the 4/2, it is as easy and as natural as breathing. However, if taken to an extreme, the 4/2’s emphasis on individuality and originality can make them or their ideas appear so unusual that they can be misunderstood or considered impractical. When a 4/2 feels unjustly criticized or underappreciated for a special contribution they feel they have made, they can become hurt and deflated by those who don’t understand what they are trying to do. 4/2’s feel with great intensity and passion. This allows them to throw themselves into their work and their relationships with abandon. However, they generally must find the work or relationship in question meaningful or fulfilling. They often place things that are special to them on a pedestal and they don’t hold back their commitment. Some 4/2’s can get so overly absorbed in the meaning behind a project that mundane administrative details can become burdensome. If formalities are to become the priority, motivation and commitment may dissipate for the 4/2. Among the strengths of 4/2’s is their ability to emotionally tune in to others. They intuit others feelings and are great at dealing with “human crises”. Their emotional barometer allows them to connect to people and touch their emotions at a deep level. Beyond that, they generally have an innate desire to help people out. They are genuinely caring, sympathetic and compassionate human beings. However, some 4/2’s seem to put too much emphasis on their own self-importance and can be envious at times. 4/2’s by and large are very personable and likeable. They tend to speak with refreshing honesty; a directness without being blunt. This goes a long way in building healthy relationships, professional and otherwise. The best work environment for the 4/2 is one where they can use their originality, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills. Any work setting that stifles this creative and expressive individual will be a poor fit. Further, 4/2’s don’t perform at their best carrying out mundane tasks. They need meaningful endeavors, generally with a strong human component. 4/2’s do not like routine, bureaucratic environments. They love to be in situations where they can emotionally connect with people and prefer not to be isolated.

In all I do, I must see the MY purpose and how I contribute towards the bigger picture. It makes sense in my logic and head BUT unless it touches my heart and I don't get passionate about it, I am not moved!

The Lord is my Shepherd

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD was sunday sermon. ps started with emphasising that the first verse is akin to a gate that opens up to the whole passage.. only if you believe and take the Lord as your shepherd, you cannot stake claim to all the promises that follows e.g you cannot claim to a green and quiet pastures if you choose another as your shepherd. ps goes on to say that the rod and staff of the shepherd comforts the sheep..the rod to protect against evil forboding foes and the staff the gently guide his sheeps ..he never uses the rod on the sheep..ever! so the shepherd shows love to his flock by guiding, providing and protecting....all that we know, right..i mean, we went to sunday school, sing songs about the good shepherd.yadda..yadda..yadda... then ps makes this profound statement that will forever change my view of the shepherd...he said the sheep only get taps from the shepherd when the sheep is going astray...no tap means the sheep's on the right path but..tap..or tap tap...or TAP TAP TAP..means sheep in trouble...time to change course! huh? some people live their lives always looking out for God's approval and waiting in tow until a lightning bolt moment from the Almighty. meanwhile they live a passive life fearing an almost certain dissapproval from God. but as the shepherd is to the sheep, he wants his sheep to explore, enjoy and cherish the plains and fields he's led them to. ..while he quietly watches out for them . for as long as the sheep remains close to hear the shepherd's voice and within reach of his staff, they will be safe from the dangers that lurk! so what does all this mean to me? 2 things actually. one, live life as if the light is green at all times, that is until a red light halts u. remain close enough to the shepherd to be able to hear his voice or to feel his taps, while living life with all the blessings that comes with it!....two, reminder to how i am to be with my kids...they shouldn/t have to be bubble-wrapped or smothered to not do this or not do that..but be allowed the graces to be kids and enjoy just being kids, yet close enough for you to tap them when they forget where the danger zones lies... if it feels good, looks good, go for it, do whatever you want, follow your heart and desires - a dangerous statement to make? not if you get THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD part right!

God Sends Babies

God sends babies to fulfill his purposes: About sixty years ago, F. M. Bareham wrote the following: "A century ago (in 1809) men were following with bated breathe the march of Napoleon and waiting with feverish impatience for news of the wars. And all the while in their homes babies were being born. Who could think about babies? Everybody was thinking about battles. In one year between Trafalgar and Waterloo there stole into the world a host of heroes: Gladstone was born in Liverpool; Tennyson at the Somersby Rectory; and Oliver Wendall Holmes in Massachusetts. Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky, and music was enriched by the advent of Felix Mendelssohn in Hamburg." "But nobody thought of babies, everybody was thinking of battles. Yet which of the battles of 1809 mattered more than the babies of 1809? We fancy God can manage His world only with great battalions, when all the time He is doing it with beautiful babies." To quote Spencer W. Kimball on this topic: "When a wrong wants righting, or a truth wants preaching, or a continent wants discovering, God sends a baby into the world to do it. While most of the thousands of precious infants born every hour will never be known outside their neighborhoods, there are great souls being born who will rise above their surroundings.....one mother gives us a Shakespeare, another a Michelangelo, and other an Abraham Lincoln. When theologians are reeling and stumbling, when lips are pretending and hearts are wandering, and people are running to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord and cannot find it - when clouds of error need dissipating and spiritual darkness needs penetrating and heavens need opening, a little infant is born."

ps jergen mathesius (i think that's how his name is spelt!)...one of the funniest yet engaging speaker ever preached on the 3 essentials of success in life, based on Matthew 15:21-28 anyway, the secret? be like the woman of canaan, who refused to be IGNORED, refused to be LEFT OUT and refused to be OFFENDED. made alot of sense to me... :-)

Interview with God

Jehovah Jireh

pat mesiti came after a long-absence from the church/speaking world - after a fall, sadly - to speak at church last sunday. i came away understanding about vision and sacrifice. its only when u are willing the two path meet, God will provide - that place is called, 'JEHORAH JIREH'..that's where i want to be.. he also talks about Joseph, of the old testament - how even tho he big dreams and he knows he's meant to do great things, he served other people's vision for a long time before he realised his own dreams....he used his talents and skills to help fulfill another man's vision. god blessed him tremendously for his servanthood heart and his committment to excellence, in doing so. that's where i want to. i want to be driven this way because i want god's blessings this way for me and my kids too

Desires

“Women all over the world are the same. They have the same hopes, aspirations and dreams. They make the same sacrifices. And sometimes as we go through life we forget who we are. We forget what our dreams were…. we become someone’s wife, someone’s mum, a title in a workplace…what happened to the girl? What happened to the young woman with dreams?”I am reminded me - decisions and desire - decision makes us take the step and desire keeps us there!
i dream of being someone important making difference in the lives of other women. i don't want to be someone elses employee being at the beckon call or being the means to their end. i want to have that choice of being with my kids and not feeling guilty about that! i see myself a succesful business women, having the authority and respect to speak to the lives of other women. i want to be more discriminating in my life choices - to embark on those that take me further towards my dream and to discard those that hold me back.
