i experienced a hankering for books again today.

so, for $16.99, i chose from the shelves of angus and robertson, "Atonement" by Ian McEwan. no i have neither seen the movie nor read the book yet.

i am not quite sure if i could bring myself to watching the show (is it out on DVD yet??). i have an aversion to anything war-ish as a sub-plot in films. so it will take more enticement than the delicious James McAvoy to get me into the movies to see this one! anyway, war movies always make me sad - at the start, the end and all of the in betweens - take Saving Private Ryan and even Pearl Harbour, for that matter. Yes, I've seen both films - Pearl Harbour, more than once!

also bought Claire Tomalin's "Jane Austen: A Life" which has proven to be quite an interesting read. very descriptive and informative at that. Jane had quite a lineage and history, not to mention a charming, yet short-lived life.

throw in another, for $5.95 Persuasion by Jane Austen. Oddly enough, this is one of her more acclaimed work (alongside Pride and Prejudice), which never quite made it as part of my library. Well now it is.
